We have had a fabulous week after memorial day. We kicked it off at our fave annual flea market, Gypsy Caravan, and snagged some great items seen in yesterday's post. Tuesday we got to see a sneak preview to the inspiring "Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's" film that will start showing to the public June 7th at the Landmark Plaza Frontenac. Yesterday, was an fabulous shopping and styling event at J. Crew featuring Joy & Cake.

Also, starting this weekend, you can get a  free tote like ours above.  Pop into the Neiman Marcus beauty department for Camp Gorgeous to receive your tote and fabulous samples (when you make a purchase of $85.00 or more on beauty or fragrance). Happy weekend!

jello strawberita

We've been enjoying the long weekend mixing some much needed R+R and plenty of fun.  The weekends not over yet, so we decided to make a nice little Monday Funday out of today with this fresh spin on a jello shot.

You will need:
fresh strawberries
a package of jello (we chose lime)
sugar or salt for garnish
{optional} tequila or vodka (depending on what you have on hand)

How to make:

First, slice the top off of your strawberry, and also slice a small portion off of the bottom of the strawberry so that it can sit evenly on a plate.  Take a knife, and carefully hollow out the inside of your strawberries. Next, take your package of jello and cook according to the directions on the back.  For most recipes, replace the cold cup of water with the tequila or vodka. Take your jello mixture and pour it into your hollowed strawberries.  When you have filled all of the strawberries, place them into the fridge for the amount of time directed on the jello box.  When the jello is set, remove them from the fridge and garnish your strawberry shots with sugar or salt.

Enjoy!

"A Queen Within" Preview

This fall, St. Louis will take center stage in the world of fashion premiering rare garments from the late Alexander McQueen's collections at the A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion and Chess exhibition at the World Chess Hall of Fame. This week, we were able to attend a sneak preview of what is to come, and, needless to say, are anxiously counting down the days until we can cover the events in the fall.

The exhibit will house over 75 carefully curated pieces from the Lee Alexander McQueen, possibly the largest group of garments outside of the archives. There are even a few from his last collection, Angels & Demons, that are as breathtaking as they are eerie. The pieces we saw left us speechless: there were prints on gowns that looked life-like, gold gilded goose feathers hidden beneath the skirt only to be seen when walking and homages to Bosch paintings that were an inspiration to McQueen.

McQueen's rule-breaking architectural designs made him one of the first designers to truly be a storyteller with his fashion and runways. Garments inspired by Darwinism, hyper-realism, and the post-apocalyptic world will all be present at the exhibition this fall. Other groundbreaking and daring designers will join McQueen's: Viktor + Rolf, Gucci, Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen), Sandra Backlund and more, thanks to the London-based curator Sofia Hedman.

We can't wait for the exhibition and how it will be told through the story of chess in a wonderlandish-way this fall. Find more information about the exhibition and its related events here.
