White Chocolate Trees

We have been busy in the kitchen this week making some
holiday treats for the weekend.
We Can’t believe there is only TWO more
sleeps  until Christmas Day! This DIY recipe today
White Chocolate Covered Pretzel Trees
is perfect if you are in a crunch to make any last minute
goodies for any gatherings this weekend. It only takes about 10
minutes, and it’s fun! They are also great for
small gifts for neighbors, your mailman,
co workers, etc!

You will need:

1 bag of big pretzel sticks
2 10 oz. bags of baking chocolate (you can also use  bark!)
Parchment Paper
SPRINKLES! (for decorating)

To make:

Melt your chocolate according to the instructions on
Your chocolate. Then, lay out your parchment paper on
A flat surface. Line up you pretzels on the paper
Leaving enough room in between (if you are making the trees!)
Take a spoonful of melted chocolate and drizzle it
Over the pretzel in a zigzag pattern, smaller on top,
And wider as you go down, to make a tree shape!
Sprinkle immediately.
If you don’t fancy the trees, simply dip the pretzel sticks halfway
Into the chocolate and roll it around until sufficiently
Coated.
Sprinkle immediately.

Enjoy!

Snowballs // Sugar Cookie Balls

One thing we love more than presents during
the holidays are the TREATS! We love enjoying
all the festive cookies and cakes with a tall
glass of eggnog. This week, we decided to take a spin
on a holiday favorite, the Sugar Cookie
with these DELICIOUS Sugar Cookie Balls!

you will need:
  • 12 sugar cookies baked (about 2 1/2 to 3-inches)
  • 3 tablespoons cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups melting white chocolate
  • Sprinkles (for a little something extra!)
  • food processor or potato masher
how to make

Take your 12 sugar cookies either in your food processor
OR place them in a bowl to mash
or process until cookies turn into fine crumbs.

Next, take the cream cheese and add it
to your crumb mix until
well-combined and mixture can be
pressed into a 1 inch balls.

If the sugar cookie truffle dough is not firm enough,
add another tablespoon of cream cheese.

With the palms of your hands and roll them into
1 inch ball Shape cookies
Place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
and place in the freezer for 15 minutes or the refrigerator for 1 hour.

When the balls are ready, begin to prepare
your choclate.

Melt your white chocolate according to instructions.
Remove the cookie balls from freezer or refrigerator.
Take each ball and place it in the white chocolate.
Using a spoon or two forks roll the cookie balls,
one at a time. When sufficiently coated, place the ball back onto the
parchment paper and immediately add your sprinkles.

Repeat for remaining cookie balls.

Store in a container in the fridge for up to a week!

Enjoy!

Tunesday; Blue Christmas

One of our ultimate favorite Christmas Songs of
all time is Blue Christmas, particularly the version by
Elvis Presley. Many have had their take on this classic, but
very few have compared to the Elvis version, that is,
until The Lumineers debuted their single this winter
at the National Tree Lighting Ceremony at The White House.

Their rendition gave us immediate chills,
certainly giving Mr. Presley a run for his money.

AND as if the song itself wasn't delightful, The Lumineers
are donating all proceeds of their single,
 Blue Christmas, to Cool Earth,
an organization that works alongside indigenous
villages to halt rainforest destruction.

Miracle on Chouteau Street

Christmas came early in St. Louis, a Christmas Miracle
if you will (and we will!). If you haven’t already heard, the coolest
pop up Holiday Bar opened in Lafayette Square
this year, Miracle on Chouteau, opened by owners of Planter’s House.

Miracle on Chouteau is one of 15 bars and restaurants
around the whole world joining in on the annual pop up, and
it’s happening right here in OUR city! It’s just as magical as it sounds too.
The pop-up Christmas bar is located in the former
Gast Haus in Lafayette Square.

This week we popped by the pop up bar. We started off with
light bites at Planter’s House, located a block from Miracle,
then walked on down. Inside, we were greeted with
gaudy Christmas decorations from floor to ceiling including vintage
decorations, wrapping paper lined walls, garland garnishing,
and of course, plenty of tacky sweaters! It was such a fun
place to grab a holiday cocktail with gal pals.

The cocktails are as festive as the décor! You can get anything
from a Christmapolitan to a classic egg nog drink.
And it doesn’t stop there. You can expect your drink to come
in a festive glass that range from Santa’s Pants to Vintage glasses.
Along with cocktails, Miracle offers holiday snacks like
lumps of coal (oreo rice krispy balls) , popcorn,
and more!...but DEFINITELY get the coal!

There’s really no other place like it. Hurry though! This Christmas
Miracle is only open for a limited time. The bar will close on Christmas Eve.
It’s best to get there a little earlier to get your name on the wait list. Call ahead’s are welcome, but fills up fast!
