When we let our minds and bodies wander we often find ourselves in the most beautiful reveries and locales.  New people, architecture and cultures are ever fascinating.  Weekends race when I am on a new adventure, even if it is rediscovering my local haunts.  I am always encompassed in the strangeness that can be a new place and I cannot wait to learn and try as many things as possible within the time I have, which is always an exciting challenge.  What I have learned thus far: Traveling is discovery, and life is an uncertain journey.  The places we go and the people we meet will become part of us and the stories we tell.

For the above look I used Essie's 'A Crewed Interest,' 'Haute as Hello' and 'French affair.'

In Short

                        

We love denim shorts.  They are easy for us to work with when we travel and want to pack light because there are so many ways to style them; dress them up, or keep it casual.  We each decided to share with you our favorite pair.  

First, gypsy featuring a pair of vintage high-waisted cuffed Levi's.  These pair great with this black American Apparel low back body suit with a lace bralette, or a great vintage cropped tee with some tights underneath.  Next, fox featuring Free People classic denim cutoffs.  These go perfectly with hi-lo button down blouses like the neon one above from Urban Outfitters, or a casual tank top with a funky bandeau.

How to achieve the look: First start by going to your local art supply store, and look for the aisle with pastels. We purchased Senellier soft chalk pastels from Blick.


Directions:
Simply twist your dry hair (wet hair will make the pigment turn into a real dye--but will wash out in a few washes) and rub the chalk up and down. The chalk releases more pigment on texture, so twisting your hair as you chalk will help create a brighter effect. The chalk dust is messy so plan ahead what you will be wearing and where you will do the chalking.


To remove:
Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo, so it removes the natural binding saps that are found in soft pastels. Chalk removes moisture from your hair and can leave dry, so condition well.
