It's safe to say we have gone through many adventures and misadventures throughout the years. Who knew how many stories a "selfie" could actually tell. I am grateful to have shared these moments with a true friend and thankful for those who captured them in their little 4X6 frames. Happiest of birthday's to this friend and cheers to many more adventures. 1.4.3.

now playing: bonfire heart

We had another successful weekend road tripping.  We have a bit
of the blues today so to help cope, we are listening to James Blunt's
Bonfire Heart.

Happy Monday!

2 pieces are better than 1

Yesterdays 2-piece dress post inspired us to create
our very own set.  There are so many different styles
and ways to create this fantastic look, but we decided to keep it
as simple as possible {this time!}

Here's how we did it:

We scoured through our closets in search of an
old fitted dress that neither of us wore much any more.
Why fitted? This way, when we cut the dress in half
there would be very minimal tailoring or adjusting to do
to the pieces.

We put on the dress, and marked a point to indicate where
to separate the top and bottom. Using fabric scissors, we cut directly across.  We cleaned up the edges by sewing new hems where we just made the cuts.
Please note, if you are using really stretchy fabric, it might be
easiest to use hem or fabric tape. Voila!

After this project, we definitely can't wait to make some
more sets for spring and upcoming music festivals!

pinspiration: two-piece dress

We are dreaming of spring for two reasons: warmer weather
and spring fashion.  We've been pulling some inspiration lately
and found ourselves gravitating a lot towards these
two-piece dresses.  The look is edgy and chic, and we love that the pieces can be worn together or as separates.

South City Brunch at Russell's

You know what they say: Once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence, three
times is a trend.  If that's the case,  Russell's on Macklind is
trending in our Sunday brunch routine.

We first stumbled on the neighborhood gem back when it
was Murdoch Perk.  After we learned of its closing, we
were a little devastated, but that was very shortly lived after
we discovered its replacement, Russell's Cafe. We have not ordered an item we have not loved, including beverages, and the biscuits are a must order item. We are thrilled to find a farm-to-table cafe that we can walk to, especially after we've had too many mimosas.

Their Philosophy

"Russell’s is your neighborhood café and bakery. We’ve adopted the principles of farm-to-table cooking to create a gourmet, homespun menu of signature sweets, savory comfort classics, creative sandwiches, 100%-from-scratch cakes & café favorites. We believe in an uncomplicated style of cooking because our quality ingredients speak for themselves. The few provisions that are not produced in-house are all carefully sourced from local small businesses:
