National Pretzel Day

What better way to celebrate
National Pretzel Day
then to spread the love of pretzels
with our re-posted
heart shaped soft pretzels?

You will need:
1 egg
2 rolls of Pillsbury Dough
Sea Salt
1/4 c. baking soda
10 c. water
cooking pan
cooking spray
wax paper

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Take your 10 c. of water, and 1/4 c of baking soda
and combine into a sauce pan. Bring combination
to a rolling boil.

While your water is waiting to boil,
take your roll of Pillsbury dough, and lay it out on
your wax paper. Begin to break your dough into even
sections. Each roll of dough should make about 8
pretzels. Once seperated, roll your dough into long
rope shapes (just like you would if you were making
a normal pretzel). Now, instead of twisting your dough,
meet the ends of your dough, and begin to shape into
a heart shape. Be sure to pinch the ends to seal.

When you are ready, begin to boil your pretzels.
Boil about 2-3 at a time, so you don’t crowd (they will swell).
Bring the temperature down, and simmer for a minute per side.
Remove from the water  and place on your wax paper .

Take your egg, and mix it in a seperate bowl with
1 c. of water. Brush your egg mixture onto each
Pretzel, then place onto your greased baking sheet.
 Sprinkle with coarse salt.
Bake for 11-14 minutes, or until golden.
Serve with mustard or cheese!

Happy Pretzel Day!

Turkey Sausage and Gravy Benedict

Exploring new places for brunch
is one of our favorite things to do, but can
be not so nice on the old wallet.
Recently we have been trying to
be more conscious of our going out meals
on the weekends, and have started
exploring some fun new ways
to spice up favorite brunch recipes at home!

This past weekend we just couldn't decide
between biscuits and gravy, and eggs benedict,
so we decided to have both!

Ingredients
  • Grands Flakey Biscuits
  • I package Jennie-O's Turkey Sasusage
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/3 cup white flour
  • 3 cups unsweetened almond milk (more if necessary)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper

To Make:

Follow directions to make biscuits.
Take a large skillet, and begin cooking your turkey sausage
on high heat.Use a Spatula to break up while cooking.
Once the sausage is cook, lower heat to
medium and add the flour and milk,
adding your milk in gradually.
If your gravy is too thin, you can add more
flour, or if it's too thick, you can add more milk.
then add in all your other spices.

Once, the gravy is cooked, reduce the heat
and let it sit. Then begin to poach your eggs.
You can do this traditionally, or use the easy
poaching pouches we've used before here!

Happy Cooking!

Tunesday; Avicii

WE ALL REACH A POINT IN OUR LIVES AND CAREERS WHERE WE UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS THE MOST TO US. For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.

Last week, the music world lost a Legend;
Avicii.

Gone way too soon, his iconic music and work
as one of the most recognizable DJ's
will forever live on.

One of our favorites,
Broken Arrows <3

Tunesday; John Moreland

The excerpt about John Moreland
on his Spotify Bio from his TV debut
was more fitting than anything I think
we could have written about
having watched him play last night
at Delmar Hall. It was entrancing in
every way. His lyrics, voice and
performance led to a magical set that
left me wanting to stay all night.

"The replay of John Moreland's networkd TV debut is...
glorious and affirming and a sucker punch. He is announced
by Stephen Colbert, lights dissolve, and the camera slowly
focuses on the person midway across the unadorned stage,
revealing him beneath muted blue lights.

He is a big man.

Seated, alone, cradling his acoustic guitar.

He looks like nobody who is famous.

Then he begins to sing, to caress the song
"Break My Hear Sweetly", and all that remains is to
whisper "Oh, my god." "

Watch for yourself! Although I don't quite think
it will match to BEING there, it certainly
will come close enough. And if he ever comes
to your town, definitely check him out!
