pie pops

After a large Thanksgiving meal, it is sometimes unbearable to think of possibly eating dessert. We
love this bite-sized pie pop recipe that makes eating dessert doable.  Below we have directions on creating the pie pops and if you didn't buy store bought filling--we have directions on how to create your own filling and glaze. Happy baking!

what you'll need:

pie crust- or if you have time you can make your own
pie filling- we used fresh apples and mixed berries
sugar
butter
cake pop sticks

Mixed Berry Filling:

One bag of frozen berries, thawed
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp butter

In a medium sized pot melt butter at medium heat. Add the berries and sugar and mix at this heat until a thick syrup is created. Put in a bowl to cool.

Apple Filling:

2-3 apples, we used red
1/4 cup sugar
cinnamon
1 tbsp of butter

Chop the apples to small pieces and cook using the same method that was used for the berries. Add a pinch of cinnamon while it cools.

Glaze:

Melt one tablespoon of better. Add 1/2 cup of powder sugar and a couple teaspoons of milk. Whisk together. Brush onto the pops while they are still warm.

Pie pop directions:

Roll out your dough to an even thickness, about 1/8 inch thick. Use cookie cutters of your choice to cut out even shapes. Press the stick in about 1/4 away from the edge of the cutout. Add a small amount of pie filling to the center, remember you'll need room to press the edges. Seal the edges with a fork or the end of another pie pop stick. Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
