Yesterdays 2-piece dress post inspired us to create
our very own set. There are so many different styles
and ways to create this fantastic look, but we decided to keep it
as simple as possible {this time!}
Here's how we did it:
We scoured through our closets in search of an
old fitted dress that neither of us wore much any more.
Why fitted? This way, when we cut the dress in half
there would be very minimal tailoring or adjusting to do
to the pieces.
We put on the dress, and marked a point to indicate where
to separate the top and bottom. Using fabric scissors, we cut directly across. We cleaned up the edges by sewing new hems where we just made the cuts.
Please note, if you are using really stretchy fabric, it might be
easiest to use hem or fabric tape. Voila!
After this project, we definitely can't wait to make some
more sets for spring and upcoming music festivals!

Love this. Crop tops are supposed to be really hot this spring. I love how you cut the skirt up high to flatter everyones waste. I'm going to go look through my closet now.

Sounds fun! If you have any questions along the way, feel free to shoot us an email!... (and I totally agree on the high waisted; super flattering on all shapes)
