Off the shoulder DIY

One trend that does not seem to be going anywhere
soon is the off the shoulder look. We love it for
spring and summer. After some consideration we
thought, Hey, I bet that wouldn't be hard to make!

So we decided to go through our pile of clothes
we removed from our closet from spring cleaning
and dug up a couple of potential shirts, and landed
on this floral button down number.

This project is really easy, if you are a beginner sewer.
Only takes about ten minutes!

You will need:

Elastic
Old Shirt
Matching string
sewing maching
fabric chalk
scissors
pins

Step 1:

Lay out your shirt flat on the floor. Decide where the top of
the shoulder is on both arms. From these points,
draw a line straight across using fabric chalk.
Cut along the line

Step 2:

Lay your elastic band where you cut your line.
Fold the fabric over the elastic to measure
the fold. You should add a little extra fabric
to leave room for sewing a line.
Pin the fabric down.

 Step 3:

Sew along the bottom of the folded fabric that you
pinned down. Be sure to leave a half inch gap
at the beginning and end. This will be to insert
your elastic band.

Step 4:

Take something long, like a wooden stick or
unfolded wire hanger, to help you insert the
elastic into the fabric "tunnel" you made.
Thread it all the way through until the elastic
appears on the other side.
Gather and sew the elastic ends together.

 VOILA!

Happy DIY-ing!
