all the right buttons

This past weekend at the Scarlett Garnet event, we were able to snag a few great vintage items while shopping and helping customers customize their purchases. Emily bought this blouse from the Current Material table that was one of the featured sellers at the event. Though, we didn't have time to DIY any of our purchases at the event we later switched out the plain white buttons for some gold art-deco buttons with a pearly white center. A simple update that makes an vintage item brand new and one of a kind all at the same time.

Guiding Light- Foy Vance

We attended the Ed Sheeran concert almost a month ago and we were left speechless. The opener for the evening was singer Foy Vance, who both have never heard before but now is a favorite of ours. Foy Vance hails from Ireland and has a effortlessly peaceful voice similar to Ray Lamontagne. The song that we constantly have on repeat is "Guiding Light," it's a romantic and intoxicating lullaby-esque melody. We hope you enjoy it as we have.

Vintage Honey

Tricycle

We found this little tricycle while we were at the new Saver's VIP opening night, and for only a $1, we had to have it. It was the perfect fit for a business card holder.  We always have our eye out for quirky pieces like this for the home or, in this case, to bring with us to events.

Ceramic Bust

This bust was one of those finds worth bragging about.  We had always admired them at antique stores, but did not admire the price tags so much.  We happened to find this one at a local thrift store one day for only $8!  It's perfect as-is for decoration, but we would much rather use it to hold our large collection of jewelry.

 Heart Case

This silver heart jewelry box caught our attention immediately.  We couldn't get over the fantastic neon heart detail and the red velvet lining on the inside.   It's a box worth many purposes, but for now, we thought it would be a great playing card holder.

What WILL we find next? We for one can't wait to look!

The London Tea Room

Brunch is our favorite day of the week.  Yes, you read correctly, day.  We like to spend more than just a 30-minute meal on brunch-days.  It's our day of the week to plan, gab and anything in between.

Recently, we had the chance to go to The London Tea Room. Nestled upon the hustle and bustle of Washington Avenue, this quaint and intimate tea house is the perfect haven.  Known for being a supplier for some of the finest and most rare teas, the tea room has an extensive tea list that is organized in " state of being" chapters to help you find exactly what you are looking for-whether it's to help you focus, invigorate, or bring peace. Perfect for both connoisseurs and "beginners."

The London Tea Room serves both breakfast and lunch items all day, along with an assortment of sweets served from the pastry case. We came in for a late lunch and each tried a different sandwich on the menu, which changes seasonally. The pastry chef bakes fresh goods every morning. We went treated ourselves to the multi-colored macaroons, lavender and lemon pound cake, and pain au chocolate, none of which disappointed.

Food aside, the laid back, mod-contemporary environment was most enjoyable. We loved the attitude and presence The London Tea Room possessed.  We also got a kick out of the witty menu descriptions. For example, the pastry case: "Consult our pastry case for daily specials.  And by "consult" we mean: buy something and eat it." Or how about the Bacon Butty Sandwich? "This is a bacon sandwich.  No more need be uttered."  Brilliant!

The LTR is open from 11 am ‘til 2:30 pm on days Mon through Fri; Saturdays ’til 5 pm; Sundays ‘til 4pm
"Attempts to secure lunchtime sustenance outside of these hours may result in us giving you “that look” and henceforth some embarrassment on your part."

cabin fever

This past weekend, fox and I were quarantined to our house all weekend.  I refuse, however, to spend my sick days in a pair of sweat pants, {especially if you have to make a couple trips to your local market for some necessary remedies and easter candy}.
